This sounds like a cool little festival, might be the perfect reason for me to finally visit Kilkenny :)

Can you fill me on what its like? I'm interested in seeing the Alabama Shakes, they are supposed to be really impressive. Apart from the premium gigs does there be much bands playing in the local pubs?

    Cheers

    lc180,

I'm from KK and think this is the best weekend of the year including Cats Laugh. Very relaxed with quality premium acts and not too pricey. Never really hear of many of them but alot have gone on to bigger things over the years (Ryan Adams). The free gigs are worth catching also with some really good acts.

Sunday Night gig (which Alabama Shakes are playing) is usually a highlight with a good atmosphere after a good days drinking for the bank holiday!

Check out this clip on you tube:

    Hi

I have an involvement in the Kilkenny Roots Festival. It's an amazing weekend as any music love will testify. Each year we have approximately 50 free gigs across the weekend. Premium Artists are known to pop up from time to time, playing outside/in-store at our booking office (Rollercoaster Records store).

Kilkenny Roots for more info and we're on Facebook, Twitter etc for all the latest news.

    Any more questions, just ask!

I saw Dan Baird & Homemade Sin in Whelans last night, terrific gig despite a less-than-packed venue. While they might be a bit loud for the roots crowd, I'd definitely recommend catching them in Kilkenny if you can.
