    Hi all,

Im buyin a car in england or up the north in a couple of weeks and have been combing the net for car supermarkets and the like

I came across www.autoquake.com and Im very impressed with the amount of info they give on each car, much more than the likes of cargiant. The only problem is you pretty much buy the car online and go over and pick it up. There are 7 day money back garauntees and that but still im a bit wary.

Has anyone had any experience with them or heard any horror stories. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Reading through that it seems biggest problem is they are disorganised. They have probably employed people who previously sold TVs. From the website detail it is fairly obvious they want as many people to buy directly from the site without test drives & usual dealer stuff...

That is probably one of the reasons they are that cheaper than retail prices, that and they don't have any associated overheads from running big glass showrooms.

You also have to take into account that your looking at 4 year old ex fleet cars which are bound to have some marks on them. One thing about them though seems to be that they sell the cars as they are, straight off the truck returned from hire/lease. I have seen some of the photos and some cars have bald tyres, chips to the windscreens, bits of the interior missing or broke. They don't seem to operate under normal dealer rules who would have to sort those issue out before selling the vehicle so you can see why they can undercut regular dealers.

Sounds more like an auction type setup to me which would beg the question why not just go to an auction altogether instead?

BTW I am also keeping an eye on a 320d and some of theirs are cheap but there doesn't seem to be a huge saving on the good, low mileage clean examples. Eg I spotted a 06 320d SE on their site going for around £11,500, where as I spotted a nicer coloured 06 320d SE not too far away in Autotrader from a main BMW dealer asking £11,950.

    So shop around first.

I purchased a car from Autoquake at the start of this year, I feel I got a good car at a good price and everything went smoothly. Customer Service and reception were a bit disorganised but nothing major. It really seems like a no frills operation and I found the price v. good.

However I did have an independent report carried out on the car before I went to pick it up so there were no surprises and I knew what I was buying.

Overall I'm pleased but my advice would be if you see a car you like at a price you like then reserve it, arrange for an independent inspection and make your final decision based on that report.

PM me if you need anything more specific.
