I don't have any advice on organising the wedding but I did attend one over a year ago in Vegas! It was great! Friends of ours decided that the traditional approach wasn't what they wanted - it wasn't a spur of the moment thing, it was planned like a year in advance, I think!

Anyway the hotels in Vegas are amazing and you really do get what you pay for over there rather than rip-off Ireland prices. You can get married by Elvis or the usual OR you can opt for a minister who will perform the ceremony for you (my friends got a minister). It was on in a little chapel in the Bellagio and afterwards we went for dinner at a restaurant, then partied the night away in this amazing penthouse suite that they had booked for a few nights in the hotel. We had the wedding cake and stuff there.

Wedding ceremony is very short - probably less than 20 mins, maybe even around 15 mins. It was really nice! Great fun and the hen and stag nights were on two nights previously in Vegas as well, so twas very different from the usual over here! :)

We actually looked at packages in that hotel for a giggle. If they got a penthouse suite that was about USD16K for the package. When you convert that and add up the cost of the things you get at Irish prices it works out very well. Photos/DVD's included along with flower, champs, spa etc etc etc easily a cheaper option than an Irish wedding.

Plus when you consider the Penthouse is about the size of the average Irish house you would have plenty of space to have a party there (heck its vegas no shortage of party spots any way).

Plus is it just me or would a night time shot of the wedding party in front of the fountains not be one hell of a photo?

On the flip side I always joked about getting married in the Star Trek Exp in the Hilton. Married on the bridge of the Enterprise and have the reception in Quarks bar.... the mrs was not impressed :p.

Id really love Elvis to marry me.Anyway could you just book the flights and get a hotel when you get to Vegas or does it have to be prebooked.

    Congrats Marti!!

Dont have much info for you, but if you can stretch the budget try and book yourself a helicopter tour of the grand canyon. We honeymooned in vegas 2 years ago and that trip was unbelievably brilliant!!

I have also heard treasure island is a child friendly hotel in vegas.

    Best of luck!
