Hi, When I preset NTL/UPC dvr to record and then when I go to view the prog I get the following message, "this was recorded from a channel you no longer subsctibe to. Please delete" The most recent was bbc1!!! What's the story? Are some channels blocked for recording?? It seems to work ok when I start rcording while the programme is on. Could it be because I stop, pause or rewind live tv while the programme is recording in the background?? It's so annoying. Sat down today to watch last nights episode of BBCI's Mistresses and got this message instead!!:mad:

Happens to me all the time as well, on random channels at random times. I suspect it has something to do with what they're doing to try and piss off the "box" owners until they upgrade their encryption, but it's pretty annoying I agree.

Really?? Well that is so unfair to legit users!! Not much point in having it if this keeps happening. I'll have to oldfashioned vcr as backup in future, which is rediculous!!!

I'd say its much more likely to be due to a bug in the system rather than any attempt to cause heartache for illicit users. I can't see how it would be connected.

I was under the impression (from other posts here) that it might be connected with the so-called "code rolling" that apparently is used to frustrate the owners of illegal boxes. Could be wrong though.

Yes I agree. I've just called customer care and they said it was probably an issue with bbc1 last night and asked me to record from it and it worked ok. Then asked me to set it to preset record a later prog and report back. So I'll see what happens!

Funny that it was just a BBC1 issue, because I just found that desperate housewives on RTE 2 failed to record!!! I am not subscribed, what a crock of S**T.... this DVR is getting worse and worse by the minute!!

Thank god Ive given them my 30 days notice!!!

Hi to all! To update - After another phonecall to customer care 1908 the problem is solved. Just had to reboot the box. Unplug, take out card, plug in and turn box on, wait till it requests the card, insert card. I then tested by pre setting a bbc1 programme to record. Just checked and it worked. I mentioned that some people on here had similar problems and she said they hadn't gotten complaints or requests for technical support. So maybe we should call them more often when there are problems. I wasn't waiting long to get to speak to someone and they were very helpful so big improvement there!!!
Cheers to all who responded. Appreciate it!

Don't get too excited just yet :D

I've had this happening on and off since I got the DVR a year ago, and just because one recording works is no guarantee that another one will. I can pretty much guarantee it'll strike again, just when you least expect it!

The unplug box / remove card / do a little jig / pray to the gods of the ether / reinsert card thing is just one of the many things on the helpdesk personnel's "script" when people ring up with problems like this. Also, the "that's funny, no one else has rung up with this problem before" line is pretty standard too.

... or maybe I'm just an old cynic :)
