The time has come for me to get a new night guard after chomping thru my latest one. I'm wondering has anybody gotten one from a denture place as opposed to the dentist? They're about €50 cheaper than the dentist but more importantly for me - they have better opening hours and i can get an appointment/walk in quicker than i get get an appointemnt in the dentist?

Why go through a middle man when all he will do is take an impression and fit it? Cost more yet takes more time. For some appliances go straight to the technician or denturist

Just to update I decided to go to the dentist (so I'd get an exam/clean with my PRSI) and he was very impressed - I've done 3 years damage in one year! :o He's referred me to a specialist - says there's no point in him taking €200 off me only to need a new guard this time next year when a specialist one will last longer. I'll report back with the cost of the 'special' one ;)

cost of the splint is only one half of the equation , the other is how much damage you avoid doing. Good luck sounds like your in good hands.

Picked up the new heavy duty split this morning - €480. But it should last years so I'm saving money in the long run - I've paid that in the last 2 years on crappy flimy ones.
