I have a Forsythia in my garden and it's in flower at the moment. The funny thing is that about half the bush is made up of rather jagged, crooked branches which are covered in flowers, and the other half is long, tall straight canes which have no flowers on them at all. What are these long canes? Are they suckers? Should they be removed?
