My god that film is awful.

Watched it years ago and thought it was ****e but decided to give it a second chance and it confirmed all my worst beliefs.

    Sentimental, saccharine, trite clichéd crap.

I dont know who is more annoying in this...Cruise, Zellweger or that spikey haired little brat who Im sure we're all supposed to find adorable and go all doey eyed over:rolleyes:

Its got one or two laughs from the only saving grace, Cuba Gooding Jr but its not enough to save it by a long shot. Really surprised so many people rave about this film.

I think its great, a romantic comedy with well developed male characters, what a shocker! Soundtrack is excellent too

I'd have to agree with the OP.

I'm a fan of Cameron Crowe.. but never liked 'Jerry Maguire' while it's probably his most acclaimed and revered film.

    'Almost Famous' ftw!

"Show me the money" = Good

"you had me at hello" made me feel dirty and not in a good way.

++1 for almost Famous. Got the R1 "Untitled" DVD with the original and Untitled cut (Much superior) along with a 4 track CD of "Stillwater" songs. Excellent. Songs are pretty good. The Stairway extra's bloody deadly if you time it right but I LOVE the commentary. Crowe....... and his MA!!! (The older, blackhaired woman in the women's group and the teacher in AF) Brilliant anecdotes about how the scenes actually happened to him in one form or another. Check it out (Not sure if the version with the CD is still available though)

I really enjoyed Jerry Magure - it featured one of the Cruise's best performances and as previously stated the soundtrack is ace also

Great chemistry between the leads Renée Zellweger and Tom Cruise

Watched Jerry Maguire for the first time on Sky last week after all my friends telling me it was a must watch.
I enjoyed Tom Cruise's performance and Cuba Gooding Jr was excellent but it felt contrived and like it was ticking things of a list entitled "how to make a chick flick"
    - cute kid (check)
    - single mother dead husband (check)
    - Mushy soundtrack (check)
    - Sugary sweet ending where the leading man realises he has been a fool and professes his love - preferably in front of a crowd (check)

But you're not in love with him are you?

I love this film. Tom Cruise is a bit of a d*ck, admittedly and I find his accent irritating, but he really is a gifted actor. Every film he's in, he puts in a memorable performance. His eyes really show genuine emotion every time. Oh..and I love that scene at the door when they get all lovey dovey...dead romantic.

Jerry Maguire was the first DVD I ever bought along with The Wedding Singer. Do like it, must watch it again sometime.

Really liked it myself. Both leads were good, lots of quoteable lines, Hunt and Cuba supported well, nice soundtrack. Not denying it's very sugary, but that's Hollywood for ya!
