How can I tell if I use a transparent proxy?

    Guys,

I would like to know if there is a bloody transparent proxy between me and the websites I am visiting. Thus sitting in the ISP premises...

I have serious timeouts since the last couple of months with an ISP and since I cannot do FTP, cPanel, watch Youtube/Dailymotion properly without running into serious slowless and timeouts.
Of course I have tried different equipment, router, cables, PC etc...

So definitely something wrong in between.

Is there any tool/method, to check response maybe, I have no idea. Anyone?

    Thanks in advance

Its Common practice for isps to run transparent proxies to save bandwidth.

http://www.lagado.com/proxy-test spotted one of the proxies i run through.

I dont see how identifying a proxy gets you anywhere when arguing with the isp. A simple my connection is shagged is enough.

Id just ring and log a few complaints then give them the boot as you have had continuing poor service and use it as grounds to give them the boot legally for failing to deliver the service as agreed.

    Worked for me.

    Thanks Jimmy, nice tool alright.
My ISP keeps telling they ain't using a proxy, so I wanted to double check and confront them eventually with the truth.

I am on Ripwave Irish BB, they told me they use proxies for DSL etc but not for the Ripwave.

So far apparently I am not going through a proxy.

    So dead end.

    Cheers again

Get a long mirror, place it flat on the ground, stand over it naked and look down :D

Pleased to say I'm not using one :)
