PS3 On Monitor

Yes - I know this has been answered before.. I have searched here and searched on Google.

I want to get the PS3 on my PHILIPS Brilliance 220CW monitor.

So, just a hdmi - dvi cable for the video..

But I am very confused on how to get the sound working.

I have a Logitech X-210 speaker system and would like to use it as the PS3 speaker system..

If anyone who is willing to help would be able to post links to the product/s I would need, in a place like Maplins, I would be VERY VERY gratefull.

If you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask.

    Thanks :)

If the speakers have an optical connection you can connect them straight to the PS3 with an optical cable and go to the sound settings and select the optical sound option.

If they don't have and optical out you can connect them using the red and white section of the componet cable that came with the ps3. Just make sure that the analog option is selected in the PS3 sound settings.

Do the speakers in question have two (a red and white) phono sockets? Or just one?

If there was only one you would need a cable that transferred red and white to one.

There's a green one which goes into the pc if that's what you are talking about?

Get the scart component cables, plug them into the two red and whites above, and plug the end jack into a Stereo Jack Female to Female Adapter, like this:

Just plug the green speaker jack into the other end of that then, and you're sorted.

I did it this way. Wasn't very expensive:)

Thanks, but what is the name of the first item?

I'm trying to remember the name, but all this stuff is jargon I'll never remember! Sorry about that, but if you have a picture of the lead and show someone, i'm sure they can help!

Lol, I just looked at where the image was from and it was from a site called www.riteav.com

They do everything you need, and a very good price! That cable is only 79c[USD] and a DVI - HDMI was only $4!

Unfortunatly, it doesn't appear they do shipping worldwide, only to the USA :(

    A real real shame.

$4:eek:? That's incredible, I got mine for more than a tenner! It's a shame it's only to the USA:/ can you get someone over there you know to ship it back to you?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 837 ✭✭✭CutzEr

I have no relatives or even friends in America as.. I've never been there :P

I have sent them an eMail though, So hopefully they will make an exception :)

Too many complaints about long shipping times, customs delays, etc.
It was less than 1% of our sales, so we decided to give up.

What you really want is a Female Twin Phono (RCA) to Female 3.5mm Jack.

I'm sure Maplins stock them, or they could at least get one for you. If you're really stuck, there's a place in White Swan Business Centre, near South Circular Road, that will make any cable you want. They'll more than likely have these already. Not entirely sure what the company are called, something along the lines of "All Cables".

EDIT: Yep 'All Cables' is the name of the place, here's their details if you need them.

Heh, I didn't know about that cable. Shortens the connection even more!

RiteAV definetly won't ship internationally after much pleading.

Maplins it is.. But I'm going to be paying like 80,000% more ffs..

And thanks Egyptian for the cable ;)

Found everything I need on ebay, The DVI - HDMI cable costs around €5 incl postage, and the audio cables cost about €5 incl postage.

The cheapest DVI - HDMI is about €25 in Maplins, and I don't even think they do the audio ones!

Shall just get a 3V top up and get the stuff from ebay.

In all Tesco's or just your's?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 582 ✭✭✭LiNgWiStIkZ

25 is a good deal compared to mine. I just remembered I got mine for 34! It's a fairly long cable though, I suppose it's worth it.

Couldn't tell you, it was a fair few months ago. The point is that there can be one shipped with HDMI cables of the lower brand ones.
