    Hi,
I just recently qualified as a BER and am wondering how much of an impact will the new Home Energy Grant Scheme will have in regards to getting work and if homeowners will be motivated to apply for the grants? It says on the scheme that the homeowner is required to get a BER cert before and after the work is done by the contractor.
    Thanks

No it doesn't , sadly . The homeowner can opt to apply for a grant towards improvement works - without BER cert

If they want to avail of a grant for a BER cert - they must obtain a before and after cert

There are other issues with this scheme - see

I have found what little interest there was in BERs around here has died since this announcement, I think everyone is waiting to get a grant for insulation upgrade a little (as little as possible) and if they are selling get a grant for the BER's too!!
