Was glad to see this game being run. I expected alot of interest, but looking at the structure its not much better or different than celtic poker and capped at €20 on the cash is it possible to win?

If you do it right lads it could be big, not being nasty. Would like to have a well run 10k event run regularly and run well down the country for a change.

HOPE YOU WILL GIVE IT SOME MORE TOUGHT.:(

Dundalk was a huge success but it did go on until 8:30 the following morning. We will be looking at the structures over the few days but we want to run things as fair as possible for the players. Just to remind the players this is a one day event structure.

First prize will include a ticket to the JP Masters in association with BrucePoker in May, if the prizepool is over 20k second place will also get a ticket.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 524 ✭✭✭BRUCEPOKER.COM

At 8p.m. this Wednesday the 18th we will have a freeroll with a ticket for our Live Tour event in the Glenroyal Hotel for both first and second place. These tickets are worth E120 a piece and are for the Live Tour game with a guaranteed E10,000 prizepool which is held on Friday the 20th in the Glenroyal Hotel in Maynooth. This game is, as always, free to play for anyone with a BrucePoker account. Registration is open on the site from early morning on the 18th and hopefully any Paddys day hangover will be long gone by the time play kicks off at 8. Best of Luck to all playing.

Just for the benefit of 'tom', the game is most definately on tomorrow.

    Thanks for your input though.

We're hoping to maintain the good numbers started in Dundalk, and remember there is also a ticket to the JP Masters Game included in the prize for first place. 2nd will also get a ticket if we give out over 20k  again.

Just as well you did, Colette! Hope you ran good after my departure.

I busted out first at final table, for 2nd week in a row (Galway last week). Smurph, Ollieboy, DIT_Tag and Westlife aka Phil "Good Beat" Harris still there. I've just completed the 67B/Luas combo to get home.

Great game. 150-ish runners, so a juicy pot for those at the business end. Well done Paul S and BruceyPoker team. See you all in Mullingar.

Yep agree, a very good game and great turn out which create a prize pool of about 21k. Would love to see this size of field on a regular bases. Anyway I busted 6th for 1100 after calling a shove over my limp with A9s against 1010 and than calling another shove over my raise with 22 against 88, gave away about 1/2 million chips in these two posts and was in automatic push and shove from there on. The structure is a real killer at the end and all about taking flips and hoping to get lucky, thats the only bad side, but I was knock out at 8:15 this morning.

    Just home
    ended up splitting it for
€3875 each + €750 ticket for JP's Festival in May (after leaving tips of course:rolleyes::rolleyes:)

I had 1.8 Million of the Chips in play and other player had 1.6 Million
there was only 8 minutes left at 40K 80K level so It would have been a toss of the coin.

Ran well in spots, won some races (donated some chips to ollie:rolleyes:)

Dit_Tag was unlucky to get his AK done by J 10 all in pre-flop to get 4th

    Great tournament, delighted with result.

When we decided to split it we dealt one more hand to see "What if" and I was dealt Aces lol..

Thanks to Paul and all the Bruce poker team for a great night...
Im off for a few hours kip and then into the Charity game in the Fitz

    No rest for the wicked

it started later then Dundalk so definitely needed tweaking, its just about impossible to get a structure with loads of play and to get through 150 players in one day but the lads are making a dam good effort to do it.

They certainly are. Maybe keep it 25 Minutes the whole way through...As you say 150 players in one night is alot to get through...

When is the mullingar game on.... sure it's only 20minutes further on the Motorway that Maynooth

I think less chips would be a better option and trying to get the table 9 hand from the start would help a little. Maybe 10 & 10 or something, also chip up as soon as possible.

My only problem was the deck of cards in play they had a problem with the printer and nobody seem to realise until it was to late, this was a real problem and me and donal norton seem to be the only ones that realise it, we both were nearly taking the card from the dealers hand and keeping are cards cover with out hands all the time. Not the end of the world but I would be looking for a refund from the printer.

Everything else was great and I think that venue could be a regular spot.

Im not sure if it is possible to go with a freezout , You could either go with €150 plus or inc. reg fee and a 15k stack with a 25 min clock all the way through . This would also help to fill the cash tables a lot earlier and it would make it a better event as you wont have as many people gambling with average hands with the comfort of a 15k safety net.
    Just a thought ????

why not start at 7.00 or 7.30 and have shorter breaks.
even though advertised as 8pm start this comp did not
get underway until almost 9pm......there's another hour
and half that could be put to better use, also 20 mins for
tea and a sandwich and 10 mins for toilet break is plenty!

Agree with all of this. A punctual kickoff and shorter breaks would have bought you an extra couple of hours at the end of the night (morning!) ... also, if you make all tables 9-handed as soon as you have enough dealers for this, it means more action, quicker bustouts etc. Wouldn't change too much with the tourney though overall, it's got a lot going for it. And well done Colette. Worthy champ. :)

Agree. There is no reason not to start on time, you can still allow late entries.

Also i think 26000 chips is too much (26k because everyone gets an early bird 1000 even if they don't show up till 9pm- that is ridiculous). I would favour something like a 7k starting stack and a 10000 rebuy or top up or maybe just a freeze out with 15k chips. I think with less chips you can actually add a few levels and so have a better structure while still finishing earlier.

Also ideally the tournies should be on a saturday afternoon IMO

Unfortunately tournies that start early afternnoon suffer with numbers. Life gets in the way of card playing lol. The popularity of the event (ie numbers turning up) is what is causing the problem, not a bad complaint really.

I meant to mention earlier but the only other thing that I would twig is the rotation of dealers. ie (change of dealers at tables each level), some dealers were left on tables for an awful long time.

We would love to hear your views in our new thread!
