Fastest growing UK rifle club, amazed they are legal, only 2 quid a round.

For civil use 50cal is nuts! They only shoot to a range of 1000 yards and 7.62 can do that.

Mind you if you are going to be a bear you might as well be a grizzly......WE LOVE BIG GUNS!

Well, it's a challenge. Ultimately it will shoot further, more accurately than a 7.62. That said, there are other rounds (.338?) which are arguably more accurate at range than a .50BMG, but it's just not the same...

Calibre banned in California. So they just make .510 instead!

A..bloody...mazing. I never would have thought it would be allowed in the UK. I wonder how my local superintendant would react if I turned up with an application for a Barrett.

One of skills of shooting low(er) calibre is adjusting for wind, thermals & air pressure etc. 50cal at that range takes a lot of those elements away.

I can't remember the name of the show....I think it's future weapons, it has this ex Seal going around playing with all sorts of weapons, he fired the Barrett and got a grouping of about 80mm from what looked to be well under 100m!:confused:

Very lucky Iceage, love your “avatar”.

Here’s a photo of assorted 50 Cal Rifles taken at shoot over in the USA about 3 years ago. Only shooting at targets from 800 to 1000 yds, midrange stuff really but good fun….

I was shooting the Barrett Model 99, horrible muzzle break, they have improved since I believe. Another guy from Barrett was there shooting one of their new (at the time) .416 Barrett M99’s, longer barrel, smoother action, lighter and surprisingly easy on the recoil.

Give me the RPA .338 Lapua Mag any day…………………………
