I can't believe I have done this. Unfortunately I don't have a good excuse, it is purely down to stupidity on my part.

What are the implications and what should I do? Calling my local office first thing tomorrow would be advisable, I guess.

show up tomorrow and say you forgot what day it was.

I'm sure it happens all the time - it's only once every 4 weeks so it can be easy to forget.

I hope that's all it takes. Cheers.

Because I'm working on a short film with people I used to work with, its a personal project for them and no I'm not getting paid. Everyone is working on it voluntarily.

So your not available for work that day ?

If I was offered a paid job on the day then yea I would be available. However working on this film is a good opportunity for me as I work in the industry and a chance to work with the high end crew on this shoot should not be passed up - it is likely a job could come out of it if I do well and the contacts you make on shoots are invaluable if you intend to freelance in the future. It is nearly like having an interview on the day, if you compare it to other industries.

I meant to get back earlier with an update.

If you turn up at the office the day after you were supposed to sign on (like I did) then everything is OK. I believe you still get the weekly amount without any reduction, but I'll have to wait until next day to confirm that. If, however, you are a number of days late (2 or more) then there is a whole world of pain awaiting you.

Glad it all worked out for you, OP.

im just after realising i missed mine on wednesday. its too late to ring now so gonna go in first thing in the morning. any idea whats gonna happen me? i will be two days late.

You may be asked why you were late signing - some offices will deduct days payment from you if you don't have a good enough reason. If it is a one off, there shouldn't be any repercussions. If you are late three times or more, you could be put on daily signing, which is a pain, as you may be given a different time to sign each day.

If you are more than a few days late, your claim will automatically close, and you will have to re-apply.

So, go in to the office as soon as possible. If you were late or unable to make the signing due to an interview or hospital appointment, bring some evidence along with you.

well i went up first thing this morning. sat down and said to the girl that i had only realised last night that i had missed my signing day. there was no problem as in she just went and got the card for me to sign. she didnt even ask any questions she was great. this was in the killbarack office and i was in and out within 2 minutes. she did say that my payment would be a day late but i would still get it which is great. and also try not to forget to sign again on time next time. hope this answers a few questions.

I just realised, being an idiot I forgot to sign on to weeks ago. However i have kept getting my JSA payments as in they kept paying them regardless, should I say nothing at this stage an sign on next month or should I go in an sign on now?

    Thanks!
