Where to get Molecular microbiology training

    Hi all,
I need to upskill (I'm too old for this sh1t!!) and increase my knowledge of molecular microbiology methodology.

My background is in more traditional microbiology, and while I understand how PCR etc. work I have only limited experience in actually running any of these type of assays.

I'd like to do a part-time course aimed specifically at the practical end of things rather than the theory of biotechnology as I've to help set up a new molecular lab, and then train in staff to operate it.
I definitely cant do full time courses.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to get training, or any similar experience that might be of help?

    Cheers

    Gaspode

I'm not sure of any course that would teach that (courses are a rip-off anyway), and certainly not one that could keep up with the advances in technology. Your best bet, IMO, is to ask a lab doing similar stuff for a non-paid training internship of sorts - maybe in return you could run some of their assays or something. Most PIs are pretty good about helping people learn.
