With Iceland in a troubled state economically, is now the time to extend the hand of a cash offer to consolidate them into a Greater Ireland?

They are practically genetically us anyway. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/01/090116073205.htm

We could also look at Montserrat in the Carribean. Time to bring the old black Irish back into the fold. Cromwell, you genious!

A Greater Ireland could emerge so much stronger and diversified in the upturn by pulling all the sons and daughters of the Gael. No blitzkriegs or Anschluss or nothing. This would all be by peaceful agreement.

What about Newfoundland? Every heard those guys talk? They are us too.

We should also definitely open negotiations with the island of New Ireland to gain a strategic presence in the Pacific.

So in essence you want to create a super-race or "Uber-Mensch" as you call them? I dunno man, sounds kinda crazy.

I think that your plan has just gone down the toilet and sunk without trace.

That's exactly what our politicians need right now - more countries to mismanage.

Feck, forget it so. Montserrat will be a better bet, you can probably grow great weed there.

I heard about a famine that happened yonks ago and millions of people did a legger from various boglands to the UK if I'm not mistaken. I was in the UK once and apart from the eye colour thing, they do look eerily like us... someone from the new expanded republic of ireland should look into this.

Icelanders like their drink. Pity about their climate though. Makes ours seem like heaven.

We don't have the money to do that. Iceland is a crippling burden we can't afford. They need more help than we can give. I feel for the people of Iceland but EU membership would be better for them than some thrown together union of Irish based on genetic and cultural similarties.

A lot of these places are so far away that a union would be hard to manage. Why not just stay in the EU, is it not big enough for this island of 4 million people?
