    Hello all,

I done the free €5.00 E/W placepot bet from todays Daily Mirror.

I had Kempes in the first race. He came nowhere. I'm just wondering does that render my bet useless?
Do I need at least a place in all six races to keep the bet alive?

For a place pot to be a winner you must have a selection that has either won or been placed(some bookies do 4 place betting on placepots).
    eg.
    1st 1 6 5
    2nd 5
    3rd 8 6
    4th 9 3
    5th 8 5
    6th 10

ok the ones in orange have won or been placed. the Placepot dividend is then multiplied by the stake and thats what you get!!

hope this helps and hasnt confused you!!

That placepot would have cost 3x1x2x2x2x1 = 24 bets times your stake.
I'd say most people did the Placepot for a fiver stake just putting 1 horse in each race.

I know this is an old thread but just had to correct Johnny.

For Irish placepots, the 4th horse in all non-handicap races with 16 or more runners is included in the placepot dividend. This is an important distinction on UK placepots, where it's rules of racing (i.e. 4th-placed horse only included when it's a handicap of 16+ runners).

    Hope that's cleared up.

    k.

Cheers for the clarification Keano - had never even thought about the Irish placepots to be fair, still disgusted with the actions of the high street books banning them for a while about 4 years ago after being cleaned out....
