Macbook Pro booting into sleep

Started up my macbook pro this morning to a black screen, and the sleep light on. I connected it to my cinema display and no image on that either.

When I boot it, it appears in my network list on other mac and I can access the files contained. It's like as if I turned down brightness but cant get it back.

I've tried safe mode, swapping RAM and reseting.

Has anyone come across this before, and have any solutions?

I had this a lot when i first bought my MBP, from what I can tell it's a power problem.

Do you have the power plugged in when you turned the machine on? This was the problem I had, now when I turn it on/off, put it to sleep/wake it I make sure it's not plugged in first.

If it' a brightness problem, which i've also had, try holding Shift+Control+Eject for about 3 seconds and see if that does anything.

    Hope that helps

Dropped it into the Mac Shop on Merrion Sq. After checking it in I was advised it sounded like a logic board issue. It's about 18 months old, so well out of waranty. I called the Apple helpliner when I got home and gave then a bit of a rant. Found out on Friday that it was the logic board and they were replacing free of chargen even though it was 6 months out. Good result. With thanks to Mac Shop for their help.

Did you buy it from Apple?
