Running Sat cables together

Is it ok to run multiple cables from the satellite to TV area where the cables are all running same line and touching each other?

Also, I'll be running 4 cables for the satellite and while doing this I'm preparing myself for DVB-T and will run a cable for that too. Does anyone know if the DVB-T cables (same actual physical cable) will interfere with the sat signal?

I've recently run 8 cables (4 satellite and 4 terrestrial) to the tv points around my house and they do not interfere with each other. The cable I used is Triax tx100 that I bought from Satellite.ie and it is good quality cable that is well shielded. There is a cable you could use called wf65 (I think) thats also called shotgun cable as it is a dual cable designed to be used in the likes of Sky+ and Sky HD where you need 2 satellite feeds. I ran 2 separate cables though as I believe the tx 100 is a superior cable and I had a run of about 20 metres to do to where I ran my 2 cables for a future pvr.

Cool. You kind of answered another question I had too :) Running the cables is not something I want to again for DVB-T, so I might as well run as many as I can from outside (some to TV area and some to central point) using the 100m reel. The cable is in the post so I won't know till tomorrow of the exact make, but I'm assured its good.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

You might check that the cable you are buying is on this list http://www.cai.org.uk/downloads/CAI%20Cable%20Benchmarking%20Scheme.pdf

No, the satellite is 24,000 miles away. Better just to pick up the signal with a dish.

It won't. The signal field strength is only of the order of 60dBuV/m which is tiny. Even if you use a masthead amplifier the signal is much lower than that from an LNB.

You might consider using WF100, which is available in 6 colours, to distinguish the terrestrial feed from the LNB feeds.

I better cancel that order for a rocket ship :D. It'll mean negative feedback on ebay though.

Cable is already bought so I'll use masking tape and write on it. Cheers

WOW.... the best money saving idea I herd for a long time, instead of buying the more expensive coloured cables just label it on each end. What a fantastic idea... who would have thought of it ;)

    Gets my vote :D

Maybe this should be in bargain alerts ;)

    Great suggestion tho Sam ;)

What makes you think that the colour of a cable changes its price?

Masking tape works great until the wife pulls it off because "it looked untidy". (Guess how I know?)

Everything in this Country changes price the more you enquire ;)

You could try draw flowers on the tape and she might leave it alone ;)

I've no idea what that means. Why dont you try answering the question, give some examples perhaps to back up your assertion.

LOL............You sound like your defending a price hike from a shop owner point of view :D

I'm asking you to give an example to back up your statement, either answer it or stop waffling on. You sound like someone who has made a statement without foundation and you are trying to get out of it by making irrelevant remarks.

Probably understandable to have the coloured ones slightly dearer......after all, it does save you finding and buying 8 different coloured rolls of tape! :)

Thats the thing though its all the same price at least it is from the wholesaler I buy from.

I'm perfectly calm, simply asking you to answer a question which yet again you have failed to do. If you wish to withdraw the statement thats fine.

I'm not interested in selling anything to you, maybe you should ask permission next time before using a computer. If its ok with the OP I vote we close this thread, it no longer has anything to do with satellite tv.

I have looked at your site and I would not buy from you for the reason I stated...too expensive...everything on the site I can buy cheaper and of the same or better quality.

I do agree this has gone off subject because you took a comment to heart.

So lets close the thread then...lol
