    Hi Guys,

I'm new here and looking for some advice.

Does anybody have any experience in having a Mobile Business (ie. No Premises)??

I'm trying to find out how effective it is & if it would be worthwhile?? Pros & Cons??

    Thanks

    Dave

    Hi Oliver,

To be honest i have one very solid idea which can be very quickly implemented but i've learned to keep my cards close to my chest.

I know there are a few of the businesses i'm thinking about in Ireland and none near my city, so i have very own catchment area.

It is a very personalised service, i always believe this is key.

I'm generally enquiring how often to mobile businesses succeed or am i better off sticking to a premises and head in that direction??

Do you have any previous/current experiences in the mobile business??

    Thanks,

    Dave

its really difficult to advise someone on something with no idea of what it is....

a mobile business could be anything really, theres far too many variables to tell you if it would be a good idea or not

    Cheers Oliver

I still think even if your business is mobile you need a premises with a landline and proper address. You'll seem less like a cowboy. Best of luck

    Thanks for your input.

Would you think if i put my own address & landline number up it would do or do you think that i should have a business address??

I visited your site, well impressed by your work.

Well I think that any landline can be used and forwarded to your mobile phone and go and built a nice "web presence shop". I think that will work and of course a clean kind of vehicle. Maybe a VW transporter with racks in the back. Just all nice and clean and tidy. Cheers Oliver

    Hi Tuxedo,
i know someone that was in same position as yourself (not with suits) and she got in touch with her nearest hotel...businesses aren't using conference rooms anymore and she's rented one of them out for her business. Has done it up really nicely and looks fantastic.

Thanks tuxedo. Being a mobile business your customers may be more forgiving with regard to that - maybe look into the cost of a virtual office, and see if that was affordable? A business address always looks better imo, but if cost & availability is an obstacle you shouldn't let it stop you.

Yeah i was thinking about a VW Caddy to start with a full graphic wrap, eye catching...

A good site also has great impact & if promoted right can a businesses biggest asset...

You previously said that you have a mobile food business, what ways do you promote this?? is it difficult??

Does your friend have a mobile business?? how is she finding it??

One of my main focus will be schools & colleges so i could afford to stay away from hotels at that point but it is a great idea to promote black tie weddings for myself... Great idea... Thanks...

I've looked into the idea of a virtual office and it seems cheap enough at €49 a week in a very prominant location in my city with all services included, broadband, conferance room, photocopying etc.

Has anyone had any experience with a virtual office?? good, bad??

just to add, I think these guys have a great brand, saw their van the other day http://www.doggiestyle.ie/ (shame about the website though!) What they have is a lo call number, so that may be a good option.

    Hi Pixel,

Yeah, great looking van, well promoted, an a catchy name...

I am going to contact Eircom regarding the lo-call number, thanks for highlighting that, great idea...

Have you any ideas that i could use for my potential site?? Maybe pm me with costs etc??

    Dave

I think you are just starting up you will want to keep costs down right!?
The virtual office, will you use it a lot? if not then i wouldn't bother.
I have just started a mobile business,if you want a virtual landline number that will forward calls to you mobile you will get that here www.blueface.ie. its not that expensive although costs could mount up if its your only number and your getting a lot of calls, worth it though because if you just have a mobile number it looks a bit crap.........doesn't it :)
