Sincere thoughts are with the family tonight. Dear Gawd I hope this doesn't escalate further, seriously worried it might.

Does anyone know as of now who, if anyone has claimed responsibility for this shooting of another PSNI officer

My condolences to all, their families, friends & colleagues, who have been murdered recently in the North.

it's shocking news and a reminder to everyone that these sick bastards still exist and never went away.

rip to officer and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

This is a dark and horrible reminder of the days we all thought were behind us, and even more so for the brave men and women of the PSNI who will now have to go back to constantly watching their backs, checking underneath their cars for bombs etc. May this brave officer rest in peace, and sincerest condolences to his family friends and colleagues.

Senator Harris in full flight today in the Senate and none of the usual stupid crap trotted out by everyone else in Leinster House about "no effort will be spared to bring them to justice" blah, blah bloody blah.Where have we heard that before Yawn. What will justice be then?Appeals after appeals in a five star facility?

Senator Harris calls it as it is.There are no more than 100 hundred of these murdering scum in the country. They are known.Their fancy lawyers and their movements are all know.

Harris wants them dealt with properly so as to prevent them hiding behind appeals and points of law when it suits them.Problem is nobody has the balls to step outside the ordinary law to deal with an emergency.Remember Omagh?

RIP to the officer and sympathies to his bearest and dearest.

RIP, just shows the dangers of being a police officer up the north and in the south. Stay safe all ES personnel, whether you be police, garda, paramedic, fireman, civil defense, etc.

    Just an update on this...
A 17-year-old has been charged with the murder of Constable Stephen Carroll in Craigavon, Co Armagh earlier this month.

The teenager is also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, membership of the Continuity IRA and the collection of information likely to be of use to terrorists.

He is due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court tomorrow morning.

Earlier, two men arrested over the murder of Constable Carroll were released without charge.

The men, aged 31 and 27, had been questioned by police for seven days about the murder of the 48-year-old officer.

The Continuity IRA said they were responsible for the murder of Constable Carroll.

Four other people arrested for questioning about the murder, and four detained over the murders of two soldiers - 21-year-old Patrick Azimkar and 23-year-old Mark Quinsey - remain in custody.

The Real IRA claimed responsibility for murdering the soldiers as they collected a pizza from a delivery driver at the gates of the Massereene Barracks in Antrim earlier this month.

Six of those still in detention have launched a High Court action in Belfast challenging their extended detention.

They are the first people to be held in Northern Ireland under the Terrorism Act of 2006, which means they can be held for up to 28 days.

One of those being held, Colin Duffy, was present in court but the judges granted anonymity to the other five.

Lawyers representing the six are seeking an urgent judicial review on the basis that their extended detention is unlawful and breaches their right to liberty under the European Convention on Human Rights.

The three judges are expected to rule tomorrow whether the judicial review can go ahead and test the legislation.

It is scary alright to think that the C-IRA or R-IRA (all from the same monster that is the IRA) are now using 17 year old snipers to carry out their heinous crimes, may they all rot in hell!

I don't think he pulled the trigger but was central to the carrying out of the murder. Stupid little runt. Will probably stay in prison now untill he is well into middle age and all for some outmoded political ideal.

Interesting to note that the legislation bought into the UK following 7/7 is being used to detain these suspects.
