Hi posters, I recently bought a car privately and I'm enquiring about how i go about taxing it. I've read the Motortax website but I 'm still a tad confused.

I have received the reg. cert from Shannon so could someone point me in the right direction after that.

    Thanks.

Go to your local motor tax office or give them a ring. In any case you will need the cert you just received, your insurance certificate, NCT if applicable (although tax office never seem to care and I believe its not their interest anymore either), and theres a form you need to fill in regarding change of ownership details - RF 101 I think......Your local motor tax office will tell you if you ring them before you go there.

Oh and of course you need the fee, if tax needs to be paid:rolleyes:
