Problem with fitting small 3-light chandelier

    Power is coming through to ceiling rose (checked with phase tester). 3-light chandelier working perfectly when connected by plug to mains socket, but when connected to ceiling rose then the phase tester shows no power coming into the ceiling rose and consequently no lights working.
    Can anyone please throw any light on this for me!
    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you for your reply.
    No, did not short the wires or blow the fuse. The bulb(s) blew and then I replaced them and things happened as outlined!!
    I'm wondering if the problem is caused by the dimmer switch?

    It was the switch as you suggested.
