Does anyone know where I could get a proper air-con re-gas done either in Galway/Sligo or around the N17 area (Live in Galway/Sligo and commute weekly).

I've seen the Halfords DIY kit's but i'd prefer to get it done properly (leakdown test, remove moisture etc.)

    Thanks folks

There's a guy in Oranmore that a lot of the garages use.

If you turn in off the main road toward the cinema and go straight on through the gate after the underground carpark. As soon as you go through the gate turn right, and go down to the end. You'll see an open garage on your left hand side.

I can't remember the name of the place, but they've done a couple of cars for us, and were recommended by a garage. Price is dependent on the car.

Otherwise, I think that Bradleys also have the necessary equipment, but I'm not sure.

Thanks Fey, will try the place in Oranmore.

Can you give any idea on price? I know you say various prices for different cars (which is mad because the systems are very similar) but have you any examples of cars you've sent??

Trying to google the name of the place but coming up with nothing

remember looking in cork last year and got prices between 120 for a re-gas to 200 for a full leak test and re-gas if that helps

It does indeed give me a guide, thanks for that. Hell of a lot more expensive than I thought it would be, considering there's people in the UK offering the same leakdown service for 50pounds :(

Local VW dealers (Galway) mentioned a figure of €95 + VAT to re-gas my aircon. That probably doesn't include fixing any leaks or whatever though.
Fortunately in my case, my warranty covered it.

Was this for just a re-gas or did it include a leakdown test etc?

...tbh, I can't remember, but he did ask......'if it's empty, where'd the gas go..?' so I presume he's leak testing it.

Mind you, over a period, the gas will deplete anyway........

I think that it cost around €150 for a BMW 520. However, there was a leak in the system which they sorted, and the system was almost empty (seemingly the gas itself is very expensive).
