hi all, i'm considering working a ski season for winter 09/10 somewhere in Europe
have any of you done one? i'm finding it really hard to find job info online, most recruiters seem to only take UK citizens.
i would just be looking for "regular" work, ideally repping or hotel work etc i'm a beginner skier so couldn't do any job with that - just had a week in kitzbuhel and have got the ski bug for sure !

any tips would be greatly appreciated

    also check natives
    http://www.natives.co.uk/skijobs/skijobs.htm
alot of jobs there and other useful information.
Bear in mind that this season is not over yet so jobs proably arent likely to be advertised for a month or two least

hey man I've done four winter season's so far :)...

Il give you the ugly factor first so your aware... Then Il finish on the good.
As a ski snowboard bum You get payed penny's some place offer 40 eruos a week other 1000 euros a month for very hard work, long hour's that's the bad side of it...

The good side is you get to party so so so much.
    You meet some amzing people.
you get to snowboard or ski every day :D well nearly every day...
You get your ski pass payed for..
you get good at your chosen sport..

So a bit about what work you could be doing any thing from scrubing pot's to driving 8 people to the air port once a week bring chef's to get food for the week, cleening rooms chefing, skit fit useually given to experenced staff, working as a rep which means your job is bassicaly to be nice all the time.
Allso if you speak french bar work

native's is a pretty good site the owner's I'm pretty friendly with, so i can have a word if you want... Persoanlly i eather bar worked or chefed my way through most of the season's. last season I bumed it.

if yo chose to go out there on your own you need to be there 2 weeks before the lift open useually about the 12 december.. so you can find acomidation and a job. If you can leanr french at the moment do so it will put you in high standing's... for job's... As for rent it can be 100 a week to 800 a month..

my other tip would be go into a out door shop when there selling there winter stock of cheep and get, some micro fleace's thermal's and a 20k water proof jacket as well as bottems you can justfy having good kit because your out there for a season and if you buy crap it wont last.. Gogels are a must you aint a season are with out a stupid goggle tan :D

My tips for serviving out there are get friendly with the hotel chefs all of them there all english and drink here and there could mean food for a week ;), so less money being spent....
Bring condoms lots im nto saying that orgys happen but you know you go out you tend to come home with your hands full thats the way a ski season is...

if you really want tips on where to go il send you to a sight where you can get a lot more info....

have you thaught about wher eyou want to work... or what resort, you want to go to ?

If you want any more info just ask :D

wow ! snow monkey what a great answer, thanks so much

well since i posted this first i am strongly considering going to meribel (as my 1st choice) I already can speak french, well i'd be pretty rusty but i'd get back to a good level pretty quick.
i've been told that since i'm a bit older (27) then the norm that i would have a slightly increased chance of getting a better job, i think i would make a good rep to be honest, i have worked in tourism before & am currently working in sales so i'm well able for the "being nice all the time" part !!

thanks so much for all the great tips- if i come up with any questions i will defo give you a shout :)

thanks also paddy b & de man...those sites are a good help- but again i'm seeing that they seem require UK insurance numbers & bank accounts....i assume there is a way for an irish girl to get around this !!

They don't speak French in Meribel. It's English town! Loads and loads and loads of brits... just so you know.
