Are there many films that are saved/ruined by one scene?

I can think of one each anyway,

Good film bad: I was enjoying the Desperado 2: Once Upon a Time In Mexico until out of nowhere Enrique Iglesias turns a gutiar case into like a remote control racecar bomb. I was in a state of shock for the rest of the film.

Bad film good: Hard to pick but I'd go for the ending of that film "Outlaws" with Danny Dyer when he
just smiles and shoots ya man who they were after
. I always hated those you haven't got the balls to shoot me scenes in films.

Good film (or so I'm told) to bad: Pirates of the Carribean, heard so much hype about it so finally decided to watch it, but at the beginning when the boat was sinking and it just happened to conviently sail up to a peer (whilst he was standing on the only bit of the mast above water) and hop off onto the peer. That was it, I literally turned it off!

You missed a good film there... the other two were crap though.

Good film to bad: Spiderman 3 - I was enjoying this up until Emo Peter and the dancing... oh God, the dancing!

Bad film to good: Death Race - was not expecting much from this, but the car races made it reasonably watchable.

Good Film to Bad: Pineapple Express, Hilarious film until Dale's (Seth Roegen) anti-cannabis rant, never thought Appatow & co. could get so self-righteous, come to think of it, similar thing happened in Knocked Up.

The one with the voiceover from Harrison Ford.

    Batty's monologue at the end:
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at TanHauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain. Time to die.

Wonderful speech. Followed STRAIGHT AWAY. (Amost overlapping the word die) with this hamfisted VO:

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life, anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

    Well f****** DUH!!!

Almost as bad as : I knew the lingo. Every good cop did

Swordfish. The opening monologue and bullet-time are fantastic, then fast forward to Halle's boobs and eject

Sunshine...attack of the out of focus man, shot with shaky cam. Ok, maybe its a bit harsh to say this scene ruined it, but I certainly didnt like it and it did spoil the ending some what.

good film bad: the dancing during the credits of slumdog. I felt that it was taking the piss out of bollywood.

I totally disagree - i thought this made a good film even better. It's was a homage to Bollywood, wasnt taking the mic,

Not sure if it really made a bad film good but there is one scene from While you were sleeping that almost made it worth sitting through. There's a quick scene about half way through, something has happened the night before and now we have one of those quick scenes to establish that it's the next morning, we have a typical american street, covered in snow and a kid is ridding a bike and throwing newspapers as they go and out of no where the kid goes flying off the bike and crashes to the ground. It has nothing to do with the film at all but I was laughing for like 10 mins after [only time I laughed during that whole film]

Is that with Ricki Lake in it? god an ex made me watch that one time. Truly painful stuff.

I also thought of another bad film made watchable: Doom, the Firsf person sequence was very good in an otherwise poor film.

Its Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman but Ricki lake could have been in it, honestly don't remember much else about the film cept that one scene.

    Bad film to good

The Usual Suspects. It was an alright film but the ending really brought it together. The whole plot was a bit bland but the last scene made such a good impact.

One film that went from being the worst film ever made to one that people talk about all the time because of one scene is Wild Things. I'm sure I don't have to mention the scene because it's the only scene anyone remembers from it. I was talking to someone about it last week and he didn't even remember that Bill Murray is in it, just that one scene.

One that went from very good to not quite as good was american beauty with Ricky going on about the bag. The film could have done without it
