I have a iomega hd that I store my itunes music and bits and pieces on
but it fell to the ground once and ever since it occasionaly makes cranking noises when say the is no mains power plugged in
It works fine most of the time , but to hear it making grinding noises sometimes is worrying
so can I trust it to hold important files and is it safe to use it?
I have a larger iomega ex hd also but its not as handy
the iomegsa online support wasn't much help either
    thanks for any suggestions

Disclaimer: Considering that this issue has to do with your data, you should not take my word for it.. your data is your responsibility!

It should be fine! Worst case scenario - drive fails and you restore the data (which isn't very hard to do if you've had some practice) ... anyway I'm sure someone would help you out if it came to that.

    My lifesaver:

HDD Regenerator - DO NOT underestimate this tool!

:) Hope that puts your mind at ease :)

    P.S
Generally speaking, your data is more secure on a CD / DVD that it is on a hard drive anyway, most people never think of this.
