    A Dail full of Independents?

We'd never even get a Taoiseach, let alone pass any decent legislation.

The flash on the front page annoys me.

As does the idea that independants will work together.

Proposal: Referendums as requested by 5% of the electorate

This idea is the worst idea.

They could have a rotating Taoiseach - approx 2 day stretch each year - bit like Italy's premier.

    You want a decent TD?
    Well just to begin with...

    • Cap their wages at €50,000 max' - provable expenses at 10,000 max'. The (few!) genuine ones will accept their wages with grace and know it is an honour (or should be) to serve their people and country.
    • Make it a legal requirement that they have to justify any further claims for expenses by producing prior breakdown of possible costs and why they should be allowed in relation to vaule returned.
    • Make their pay related also to actual minutes spend in the Dail. Minimum number of attendances and/or minimum number of time spent in the Dail - why? - because at the end of the day, they are or should be, answerable to the people of Ireland that put them there and the Dail is where those answers are to be given.
    • Give them workers holidays, the same as the rest of the work force in Ireland.
    • While they are elected officials of the country, give them stringent rules as regards junkets.
    • Three strikes system of breaking Dail rules - YOUR OUT!

Thats just off the top of my head. I'm probably talking rubbish again!

Politics without parties can work... just remember. it's Parties, in the plural sense. We're allowed to have one.

    The question is... which one?

Oh I think it would fine if they were just called The Party. And Taoiseach is a pretty outdated title these days, too backward and tribal. You want something modern and upbeat like The Leader or Head Meatus.

I've only briefly skimmed over the link but isn't it another one of these "cranks charter" affairs obsessed with the idea that making things more "open and transparent" is the way forward and that every minute ****ing detail should be voted and debated ad infinitum?

A national socialist party would look good what with all the fancy uniforms and propeganda and goose stepping. Only problem is you can't really have a party like that without scapegoating someone/some race. So I pose the question...who to scapegoat?

Bank executives. Familes of bank executives.

Considering that this is AH and it's where I suspect any such movement would gain traction, I'll have to go with Eastern European men (but not their lovely women) or Roma Gypsies.

Set the former Iron Curtain as the cut off point.

I was thinking maybe foster parents first. Target them so disillusioned young children will have nowhere else to go except into our re-education programs. They'd be like our own angry, superloyal army.

The taoiseach should have no wage and should be honoured to have the priviledge of running our nation. Let him set up his own website with a Paypal button on it so that we can make donations to him. Might be an incentive to do things right.

We need a military dictatorship. The uniforms always convey authority, and purile shoite like reclaim the streets would be over a lot more quickly. It also does away with pointless elections where the same grey haired ex-teachers get voted in again and again.
