Tax disc with two dates

    Hi folks, I can't get an answer on the motor tax phone line. It comes up as busy for the last 1.5 hours. So maybe someone on here knows the answer.

    I have a tax disc for a vehicle I bought last September. The disc has 03-09 on it with the word 'replacement' over it. I presumed the tax was due this month, but I haven't got any letter from the motor tax office. Further down the disc is the vehicle details, €6.00 and the vehicle make, and 21-07-08.

    Does this mean the tax is due up in July instead of March? TXS!

    I think that means the disc is out of date on the 31st of March 2009 (end of this month) and the date that says 21-07-08 is the date of issue of that disc.

    You say it says "replacement" on the disc, perhaps the original was lost or stolen and the "replacement" was issued on 21st July last.

    My Tax is due on the 31st of March too, and I haven't received a renewal form yet either, so I wouldn't worry about that.
    Anyway, if it says 03-09 in big bold writing at the top of the disc, that's the month the disc goes out of date, so you won't get away with it until July!

    The July date is just the date it was issued. A tax disc isnt always valid for a year because you can tax a car for 3, 6 or 12 months at a time. The only date that matter sto you is the big one at the top (in your case 03-09). Your tax is up at the end of this month.
