    Dear all,

It's offical, The Suir Valley Cycling Club is about to go live.

We are having a meeting at the Holy Cross at 8.30 pm this wednesday for any one who wants to give their opinion.

We want as many people as possible to show up and get the wheels turning (pun intended).

We aim to have 3 seperate groups on the road and a mountain bike section as well, all by the start of April. The whole idea of this club is to remind people that Cycling is actually for the vast majority of people a bit of fun:)
So if your around stop by or else pop into Spokes in Waterford or the Harliquin Cafe and put your details down on the contact sheet there and we'll be in touch as soon as we can!

    TTFN
    Colm

    Hi Colm,
my name is Paul O'Donoghue i am the secretary for Clonmel CC and Race Director of the Suir Valley 3 Day Cycling race. The terms Suir Valley Cycling and Suir Valley 3 day Race has already been registered by our organisation and has been in use for 5 years. Already this is causing confusion and i have had many phonecalls in relation to the matter . Please can you contact me on this matter before you go further in relation to the name. suirvalleycycling@gmail.com / suirvalley3day@gmail.com / spota@clonmelcc.com

Hardy Har Har you should all be in the comedy section of the forum:D:D:D

Right , firstly the previous name has been dropped . Appologies for any confusion caused.

Second. The meeting on Wednesday is still going ahead and we would really like participation from people who want to help with the setting up and at committee level. We hope to have a new name as well as an open meeting for everyone at the end of the month.
Again sorry for for any confusion and please PM me if you need any info .

By all accounts the meeting went well, Something like 10 or 12 turned up. Thats actually quite good for something that was only arranged at very short notice. I was unable to attend but I have been given the position of PRO on the committee, Colm is the chairman and Liam from Spokes is also involved at some capacity. I am awaiting the minutes of the meeting to be sent to me, so will post up more info when it comes to hand.

I believe a new name has been agreed on (i actually dont know what it is yet, I forgot to ask:rolleyes:)as has a location for the meeting point, Woodies Car Park Cork Road side, for the spins. The first spins are planned for the weekend of April 4th/5th. These are a more of a get to know you spin that anything else. Something short is all I think.

The design of the club gear is also moving along nicely with samples been available soon enough.

Will the new club be open to members of local Triathlon clubs for training?

Providing the club membership fees have been paid there would not be a problem. The membership fee has been set at €40 which includes the fee for new members signing up with Cycling Ireland.
