    I must be stupid...

How did you manage to get tickets? I'm on ticketmaster.ie and I can't find a way to buy them online.

Couple this with the irritation that they've gone up from 45 euros to 68 euros in the past hour...

And that I can't find Neil listed anywhere on the o2 arena website, like I could a few days ago.

    What's going on?

    Please help, and thank you.

there are plenty of tickets left

    Go to ticketmaster.ie
    Search for Neil Young
    Pick the tickets you want
    Click Search
    Follow the instructions from there.

I did not have any problems when odering my tickets earlier on.

It doesn't look like it will sell out anyway, so you should be able to get them from a ticketmaster agent in town.

So I needed to use internet explorer to book them.

But at 9am the tickets were at 45 euros. Now they're 68 euros. And at 9am I was trying to book them through opera, which wasn't working. Now I've figured that out it's too late and the price has gone up.

    Raging!

    What do I do?

On the phone, ticketmaster claim the price has never changed. And that they would need proof that it was 45 euros. I know that at 9.15 or so, it was 45 euros. I feel very ripped off.

The ticketmaster site has been broken in Opera for months. On the event booking page if you right click and select block content and then click done it will show the ticket fields. Hit clear selection at the bottom to reset it. Should work then. Its a pain though.

Also according to the press release from Aiken the prices are €65.70, 68.20, €76.25. If there was any €45 priced tickets it was a software glitch either because of Opera or something on ticketmasters side. It is unlikely they would have processed or been honoured. Unfortunately the days of paying €45 for someone of Neil Youngs standing in this country have long since gone.. may be on the way back soon enough though but for all the wrong reasons.

Thanks for thst suggestion. I don't book tickets very often (first time in 4 years) so I didn't know that.

The biggest thing, though, is that tickets have gone up in price.

Please reply and tell me how much the tickets cost you. Was I dreaming? Were they 45 euros for the first 15 minutes?

Ok. The press release info makes it pretty clear. I've yet to hear if any of my friends paid the cheaper price, and if that payment was honoured. If it was I'll resume my fight, but for now it seems the prices were always meant to be 68 for standing.

    Thanks for your help, toast.

Anyone know if this will be a noodle-fest like Malahide castle or more harvest/after the gold rush type of concert ?

Before tickets went on sale there were two different links on Ticketmaster for Neil Young, one with price points of €45/€55 and one with Aiken's specified pricing. The lesser-priced link must have been loaded into the system prematurely. Looks like they only caught wind of it this morning despite the fact that it's been up there for a week or so. Did anyone get €45 tickets I wonder?

Would love to see Neil Young but €70 is a bit much. I'll settle for his Primavera Sound appearance in Barca for now.

Neil Young? noodlefest? Sounds tasty :P

I imagine it'll be like a Dylan gig, every one's different, for better or worse.

Got my tickets, i did see the prices being 45euro but i reckon that every week its a copy and paste job on ticketmasters site and someone forgot to get the right price for Neil Young.
I can't wait for the gig, Malahide Castle was the best gig i've been to in years. The noodle fest was only in one song the rest were the classics imo.
It looks like the same backing band this time.

Many have been true a couple of years ago but he has been playing the exact same "greatest hits" setlist during this tour so far.

    noodle fest?

A 25 min rendition of No Hidden Path. The one falling point of a brilliant concert. Here's hoping for more stuff off Zuma and Tonight's the Night, it'd be great if he played Thrasher as well.

I loved no hidden path, but then I'm a die hard fan.

He certainly doesn't just play greatest hits. Since when is "get back to the country" a greatest hit? On tour last year he also did a rocked up version of "for the turnstiles" and "time fades away" - which he hadn't played in decades.

Yeah, you dunno what you're gonna get. I hope we get a couple of rarities, but then I'm happy just to go and listen to whatever. I've heard live recordings of hundreds of his concerts, and the old familiar tunes he plays gig-in gig-out never get too repetitive for me.

Yeah, it's ****ing great (and it was even better with that extended version at Malahide).

It's the same band as the Malahide gig so I reckon it will be a similar set (if not the same songs then at least songs from the same albums) with a lot of new material considering his new album is out soon.

I saw him at Rock Werchter, having heard a lot of reports about how he spent 25 minutes **** over one song. I really dislike that kind of self indulgence, but when I saw him I thought it was brilliant. Honestly, one of the best gigs I've ever been to.

I really think that kind of thing is down to personal opinion. I can understand people not enjoying it, but I think he's good enough (and then some) to pull it off.

Ah yeah I'm all for the long stuff, but instead of No Hidden Path we could have had Like a hurricane, Cortez the Killer, Cowgirl in the Sand etc. etc. but its a minor gripe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,064 ✭✭✭poundhound

I have the Malahide show on CD and the version of No Hidden Path is incredible, as good as I remembered it at the show. Having seen him 7 times, he tends to do a really long song towards the end of the setlist and tear the heart out of Old Black. In the past he's played equally long versions of Cortez the Killer, Tonights the night or Like a Hurricane. But I guess after 20 odd years of playing those songs he wanted to do something new and I applaud him for that. New album due next month and fingers crossed it has another extended rocker that we can enjoy live in June. I love his acoustic songs, not such a big fan of his country stuff but his Crazy horse shows are something else! Hey Hey, My My.....

How did you get that on CD?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,064 ✭✭✭poundhound

bootleg, but the sound is really good. Apparently the shows at Hammersmith Apollo were recorded for a future DVD release but like the show with Pearl Jam in the RDS, it may never see the light of day.

If it's a bootleg try fan sites first before you sell your soul to ebay.

Don't use ebay. search for dime a dozen online...
