    looking for a good fox rifel what caliber is the best looking for some thing that will drop a fox out to 250/300 yards any ideas was thinking .223

    Yeah I personally find the .223 good out to 150-200 yds but 250/300 is just too much for me at night even with a lightforce 170.

    would be doing some early morning shoting as well as night thats why i want the range was looking at a tikka t3 lite any body think their a good gun

    250 -300 yards at night ,u be doing well at that with a .223

    i hear their a great gun but the price tag is a bit high for me am looking at the lite with the stainless barrel

    223 is fine out to 300yd on fox. No matter with what caliber, one should start laser range finding at that distance and holding over or better dialing the scope to compensate drop.
    It is in fashion at the moment to go for the tight twist 223's meaning 1in 9 or 1in 8" twist rate. These can stabilize heavy bullets that also shoot way less flat. Advantage is less wind sensitive and better down range energy.
    I would almost prefer the normal 1in 12" twist for foxing out to say 300m.
    A 55gr is a good compromise between energy, drop and wind drift.
    I think the 1in12" could be easier to get to shoot tight groups. But thats only my gut feeling.
