ICE/NOK on your mobile phone

I've read on a few motorbike forums that in the UK, it's recommended you save an ICE (In Case of Emergency) number on your phone.
If you don't then NOK (Next of Kin) is good too

Generally it's your wife/husband or parents or realy whoever is the best person.

So do Emergency Service workers actually check this?
If you are first of the scene and see someone lying on the ground, once you sort any medical issues would this be a check you'd do?
Or is there any point in the public doing adding a number like this?

While people will having their wallets & handbags with them, they won't always have ID. But just about everyone has a mobile so it might help in a situation.

Just wondering, and apologies if this was raised before. I've not seen it

It kinda annoys me in that when that person rings me it comes up as just the number sometimes, had other phones where that didnt happen though!

Personnally, i have mam, dad etc on my phone anyways but i think its an excellent idea! Im not a member but dad is a gard and says its quite handy when trying to contact family to tell them about wahats happened, or to find out medical issues etc that could interfere with drugs

I've never need to check someone elses phone for ICE...

But I have two NoK on mine as ICE1Realtionship/Name and ICE2Realtionship/Name

Although it has been raised before I don't think there's a problem in publishing infor on ICE again, as not everyong may have seen it.

I have seen it used, (checking phones for contact details) rarely at the road side though, usually in the hospital.
Although to be honest I haven't actually see it as an "ICE" entry but rather entries like Mam or Dad or Home have been used to contact next of kin.

If you find me will you just take me to hospital and don't worry about calling people! Security lock on my phone anyway so you're not gonna get to the phonebook.

Personally I just have a note in my wallet - call such and such in case of emergency. I'd assume it would be found when someone is looking for ID or something?
