Good value from Sky

After all the posts in the last while (although they seem to have dropped off temporarily) I thought I would just point out two things from Sky that I've noticed are 'better value' than in the UK.

    1) Refer a friend - here you get a €75 cheque, over there you get a £50 voucher for M&S.

    2) Sky+HD is £49 there and €49 here.

I just thought it was interesting after so much harrumphing recently about us being ripped off here, that it actually looks like some things are cheaper here.

SKY HD sub here is 15 euro per month ,its £10 in the UK.
Sky are riping us off big time.
All these so called "deals" are ploys to lock you into a 12 month contract.

Only two things? Sky are still bending you over.

Yeah, I know the subs are more expensive. I'm not a big Sky fan or anything, just pointing out that some of their prices are lower here.

I saw absolutely nothing in your post to suggest that "some of their prices are lower here".

They might pay you more to do their marketing for them, but given that the subscriptions are way above UK levels they easily make that back.

    Well they're cheaper than UPC!!

I'm ditchin them for Sky HD and forgetting the box cost I'll save €5 a month to upgrade!!

They're a shower a hoors :D They wont get any HD money off me until they drop the 15 euro. Tempting and all as it is. It's an awful pity they were ever allowed develop a monopoly.

I have HD and it's not worth the money if you don't have movies & sports, which I dropped a while ago as was never watching them.

Even WITH both premium channel options, I'm not sure if it's worth paying extra for channels you already pay a premium for AND a box you (probably!) paid more for initially. To make it worse they lock you into a 12 month HD Sub that even if you do drop the Sports/Movies, you'll still have to pay.

It is going to be a long long time before Sky thinks of dropping the €15 per month for HD. When Sky+ was first launched and you subscribed to all the channels you got Sky+ for free but that has never the case with the HD Package so it will be a very hard pill for them to swallow if they are ever to consider dropping the HD Sub! Free Sky+ with all the channels was a good incentive to get people to upgrade. They probably should have done the same deal when they launched HD.
