My onboard computer in my audi a3 is flashing up with a message of an MPH sign and the words - speed warning - anyone know what that is?? Also I noticed that the miles per gallon measurement keeps flahing like mad from 200mpg to 30mpg to 15mpg to 58mpg all the time even when Im doing a steady speed on the motorway! Is that normal??

You should be able to set a speed warning so that the computer alerts you when you exceed a specific speed. There should be two different MPG readings, one instantaneous reading that might jump a lot at constant speeds and one average reading that will show you how much fuel you're actually using.

I had an A3 (must have owned it when I registered on here :pac: ), and it's possible to switch off that speed warning, don't ask me how, but its definitely in the manual.

As for the MPG, it sounds like its displaying the "instantaneous" mpg reading at you, so it's constantly changing! You can also change this to display the average reading only.

It's a case of reading the manual.

You should be able to cycle through the MFD settings with the up/down button on the stalk until the speed warning comes up. You can then click the ok/reset button to change it or clear it.

You were fiddling with the buttons on the dashboard when you were driving, weren't you? :D C'mon... admit it....

haha no I wasnt, i had to get a sensor replaced and I think that may have something to do with it. I figured out how to get rid of the speed warning using the stalk thing (the beeping was driving me mad!) but cant figure out how to get the avg mpg reading up instead of the instantaneous one, don't have a manual, didnt get it when i bought the car (secondhand), so if anyone can help..........I can cycle through the different messages by pressing the stalk but dont know how to change them ???? Tried holding the stalk in and also pulling out but it didnt work!

you can cycle through the mpg readings by using the buttons on the end of the wiper stalk.

if the stalk is like a leons-might be-there's the rocker switch for up and down plus another button underneath, right where your thumb can hit it
