I was out last night from midnight to 2.00am. First time in ages to get out with my son lamping it must be over 2 months now. I held the lamp and he shot 3 foxes. Great night for it as a good wind was blowing and just a little rain at times, good moon as well.

Got the first one @50m he didn't even look around at us and the lamp was on full, no need to call him in or anything he was to instrested in what he was doing. Bang first in the bag. A big dog fox and in great condition.

Second fox was a long way out so called him in to 50m using the caller from Foxcall.co.uk. That was the first time to use that caller and it worked well on this and the next fox.
Next fox was @150 out and again called it in to 75m before taking the shot.

I have still to get out with my own 223 CZ varmint shooting for fox's. I got this gun last November and I wouldn't go out until I got it shooting small groups. But now my son won't go out lamping with me and my 223 until I get a mod fitted. That's another €400 bangers to find.

No not given up the home made MP3 caller, I'll use that when out in the fields. But I can recommend the Foxcall.co.uk caller IT WORKS and can be held between your teeth nicely.

I didn't get to shoot as it was my son's turn with the metal tube this time. He has a CZ Lux in 223 with a T8 mod fitted. I have to get a mod for my 223 CZ Varmint it's very loud and seems louder at 2am.

What to you tend to do with the Fox once dispatched ?
I have been asked by a few local sheep farmers to ''fox'' their lands and just wondering what is the general way to deal with the carcus ?

It's a bit late to be shooting foxes, in March, there will be cubs underground.

So cruel - poor fox cubs left underground to die as their parents have been shot.

I leave them in the ditch to rot away. Not much left after a coupleof weeks

Is it worth having that reply edited out and getting a week's ban to cool down in?
