Going crazy trying to remember the name of a wonderful film I saw some years ago.

I'm convinced it was called The Earth is Burning, but clearly not, as it's not turning up under that name.

The story: an elderly husband and young wife live idyllically with her two aunts and the couple's young daughter in the Russian countryside.

He is a hero of the Revolution, one of Stalin's trusted generals.

But - unknown to them - the cult of personality is beginnng to take hold, and Stalin and Beria's sinister cleansing of the socialist ranks.

A young man comes to visit - once a boyfriend of the wife's, now prominent in the new NKVD.

As the day goes on, it becomes clear that the husband is targeted for liquidation. They live that one last idyllic day, which ends as the husband is taken away - being beaten up, crying and saying Stalin will help him if they just get word to him, it's all a mistake - as a giant backcloth of Stalin's face is raised over the fields for the festival.

What the * is the name of the film? I'd really like to see it again.
