People love to bash people in politics, normally in my view because its easy and requires little thought.

now from what i read on boards, ireland has a corrupt political system and completely incompitent government..rabble rabble.

so i ask, what country in the world has the closest to ideal system with closest to perfect politicans that ireland could aspire to.

first to post that all politicians are corrupt or useless is a fcukin idiot..try to think harder.

its kind of hard to find one that is anywhere near perfect. part of the reason i think for this is that the US has been surpressing and doing its best for all other systems, (apart from dictatorships if they put them there, perhaps?!) to fail. If the right people sat around the table putting money & power aside and pick the parts that work from all places.

An altered version of Demarchy and there should be no political parties, every politician should be independent. On top of this, there should be no insentive to stay in power except for helping the country. Any type of corruption at all will have the politician in question permantly banned form the selection process

    Why not!

Seriously though. They each might have some aspects we could admire. They each brought about wealth while having no main minerals or any major big time single industries (besides watches and coo-coo clocks?).
They mind their own business, keep their heads down. Never give any bother. They are stable. Neutral (I think!). Wealthy as states go. Supposedly more environmentally friendly. Low unemployment rate. Good health care and so on...

Not bad for small countries, eh?

Not saying we should adopt all aspects of their countries but we could learn better how to do some things from them besides kissing ass to America, Britain and China, etc...

You don’t have to take it personally.
I just wanted to point out the fact that the poll itself is as corrupt as most of the political systems on it.
If you are going to ask that kind of question.. and expect to instigate an honest and free-flowing discussion.. you shouldn’t set limitations.

Ah I wasn't taking it personally. It was just a nerdy joke. I should say by the way that I set up the poll, not Snyper.

Maybe instead of the tourist junkets we seem to like out leaders to go on, we should send them there instead and find out?

An anarcho-syndicalist commune. We should take it in turns to act as a sort of executive officer for the week.

And this is where your idea comes apart at the seams. That kind of altruism does not exist in the real world.

I think that devolved local government would be best, with as much direct democracy as possible.

Switzerland is in a very lucky place. To get between Italy and Germany you probably have to go through it.
