In order to develop a knowledge economy, we need to put in place the ICT infrastructure upon which the digital economy and e-commerce will be based.
Eamon Ryan has already begun the rollout of a national broadband infrastructure At the beginning of this year, he announced an investment of some €223 million to bring broadband to the inal 10% of the country.
The National Broadband Scheme will also directly result in the creation of 170 jobs as well as indirectly fostering and protecting hundreds more jobs as the availability of broadband increases investment and enterprise in the targeted areas.
