Court order needed to obtain Passport

I have to go to the Family Law Office in Essex Street ,Dublin to obtain a court order dispensing with my ex-husband's consent for the issuing of a Passport for my 16 year old son.Does anyone have the experience of doing this? Do you have to make an appointment or just show up a get in a queue to see the judge?What essential paperwork would I need to bring?
The Passport office gave me no details,just told me to go there monday and get the court order.Can anyone that's been through this help me.Many thanks.

Is your husband refusing consent.?

Or is it,that he is not around?

I have gone to court re this matter.

I had to fill out the forms, give them to the clerk of the court and it is taken from there.

I'm divorced from him and he's gone to a foreign country.I have no contact with him.

Depends on if there is a judge available to deal with your application.

Need to get it as soon as possible because my son is going to France at the end of the month on a school trip.Anyone been through the process.Is it possible to get done in one day?

Would a sworn affidavit signed by a commissioner of oaths (which most solicitors are) not suffice for the application and save you from going to court?

No,it has to be a court order.

Just for anyone who'll be in a similar position in the future.I went to the the court this morning to get the court order.There was 23 people in the queue before me.I was there at 10:15 and go away at 3:50 in the afternoon.I was given a ticket number first.Then interviewed and all my documents were checked and then the long wait to see the judge who granted me the order.The staff there were very friendly and really helpful.Top people!

Hi I have an appointment to get a court order dispensing with parents consent for my childs passport application. What questions do they ask and what proof do they ask for in relation to the other parent being 'unavailable'. What is the definition of unavailable? If the parent is available and willing but is abroad and cant get access to a witness, would that qualify as unavailable?
