New iMac owner & disaster straight after connecting the power cable :(

    Hi folks,

I just received my iMac this afternoon from dabs.ie and only managed to unpack it this evening. After getting it out from the box and pluging it in-disaster strucked! As soon as I pluged it in without even switching it on, the iMac tripped the main fuse in my apartment, and now it wont switch on .
I tried different power cables and the original cable that came with it is working with my pc so I reckon its something internal.
I bought it from dabs.ie and now I dont know if I have to contact them or maybe local apple shop could look into it for me?
Did anyone else came across something like that before?
I was waiting ages for my iMac to arrive and now I will have to wait even longer to see how it boots up:(
On apple support website says that it should be brought to nearest apple shop, but Im worried that they wont look after it due to my iMac being bought online from different reseller.
Any help what to do would be highly appreciated,

    Cheers,

    Stan

Thats great bedlam, thank you very much for that info. I will be calling them as soon as they open this morning.

I've been looking forward to getting the Mac for a long time, and finally when I get one I dont even see how it powers up:(
Fingers crossed they will do something for me, it still has the plastic on the screen etc. If not then I will be contacting dabs for replacement.

    Cheers:)

Apple will fix it for you. It happened a friend of mine a while back. Not straight away but after a month something tripped inside it and it wouldn't turn on even after she'd tried it with a different power cable etc
Apple told her to bring it to a local apple authorised repair shop and they fixed it for her.

Yeah just bring it up to Mactivate or Typetec (they're in Dublin). They'll just know it's under warranty from the serial no.

    Thanks for the replies folks.
I arranged with dabs for a replacement, so my Mac will be collected on tuesday.
I decided not to bring it to apple shop.. If the iMac was used for a while then I would take it to apple, but because it is spanking new and never used I would rather get new machine instead.
I just wonder now how long it will take dabs to sort that out. I hope not long.

    Cheers

Think your right to go for new machine.

I've had 24" iMac for a year or so now and never any trouble, reckon you were just unlucky.

Long enough I'd say, going on my own experiences waiting for any item from Dabs :( At least you know you will get a new machine though, that's the main thing.

Pity the poor eejit who gets your own machine once Apple have refurbed it though!

Emailed dabs about it and they arranged it for today and that didnt happen either:mad:

Emailed them again, waiting for reply probably on monday.
Great stuff, it looks like I wont be seing my iMac up and running anytime soon.
