Hi, Does anyone know of any unused or unwanted religious statues, or even a business that sells them second hand.. I am looking to create an easter scene using statues such as Jesus, Mary, 1-2 apostoles, Mary
Magdalene and 1-2 roman soldiers if possible.... Any help/ hints/suggestions or offers on this would be greatly appreciated

P.S. I placed this in this section as a lot more people will see it and also if you are not into religion you will not check the religion section... Hope this OK

There's an antiques place near Portobello that sells all sorts of church statues.

+1 on Twee's suggestion, you'll almost miss it, it's in the basement below another shop, you'll see lots of religious paintings, etc in the doorway lining the stairs down to the shop though.

If you're in Dublin, Ferny, go into Whitefriar Street church and ask there. For a start, there's a shop selling all kinds of religious iconography - rosaries, little statues of St Brigid and the Child of Prague, and so on. But also the priests there are probably pretty mobbed-up and will be able to tell you of some parish garage where the statues crowd around in storage, muttering about these modern times.

No idea where you'll find statues of Roman soldiers.

You could get a friend to dress in Roman gear with you, put a tooth and some coke in a petrie dish, leave it overnight so that a civilisation grows on it, they will then shrink you down to their size and you'll be the same size as a statue.

Of course there is the problem of getting back out of the petrie dish. That would require some type of rebiginator and the idea of that is, frankly, preposterous.

Stick a statue of bob marley smokin a joint in there, some bitches and some bling and you'll have yourself a rockin crib for all occasions.

this forum is filled to the brim with anti-religious dubs who still have a sore arse from when they were an altar boy. so not really the place to ask

I'm going off on a bit of a tangent here, but there used to be this guy in our area who used to go around and actually move the statues in churches to make it look like a miracle or something happened.

The guy was as a mad a fcuking hatter. He was also locked up for making dirty phone calls.

I'll get him to give you a buzz about this if you want? He might be able to sort you out....

I knew a bloke from Ballinspittle who had the full set back in the 1980s,
he got rid of them in the end as they kept moving.

OP is this a similar scam a sign of recessionary times with you supporting a rural village's tourism drive?
