So at the risk of being stalked (very slim), I'll post about the festival I'm going to this weekend.

I went last year too and it was waaaay cool (sorry the pun)

    FDGD Festival

    Story behind the festival

If you are ever in that area at the time, I say go, go, go!

I've also attended Mardi Gras, Cinco De Mayo, Patrick's Day, but they are very mainstream.

What cool festivals taht are not mainstream have you guys attended?

    Lowlands, Dutch music festival. Whopper.
Acts like Sigur Ros, Hot chip, Diplo, British Sea Power played.
Has its own currency and all.
    JD and Coke in cans.
    Fantastic weather.
Free entry to the neighbouring themepark when you buy the combi-ticket for €20 extra.
MASSIVE food court where you can get anything you want!
Hot, clean, working showers, without queues.
Cheap! Think we paid like €300 for return flights and combi-tickets each.
Free shuttle-bus service to nearest town to get food and drink and what not.
    People are so friendly too!

    Here's some info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Campingflight_to_Lowlands_Paradise

    And here's the actual site:

Ah Benicassim last year. A week of pure madness. We had such a great time. Space cakes, cheap San Miguel, straw hat, Leonard Cohen. Aaaah, memories.

YES! As long as you're not an idiot regarding the heat and sun, you'll have a great time.

My OH went to the Exit festival in Novi Sad in Serbia. It sounded awesome. I wish I'd gone with him but it was a boys weekend and I wanted to set him free for a few days!

There is a Festival every year in my home town called the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival. This year will be it's 17th! It has really become one of the greatest festivals in western Canada, and has a lot to offer. I love the fact that they have all sorts of music, and really focus on having fun.
Anyone thinking of coming to BC this Summer should consider going, you wont be sorry you did!

Have been there twice, amazing in 07, 08 lineup was not as strong, but its a festival that has to be seen to be believed. The backdrop of the fortress really is mind blowing, makes a change from the open field idea we have in this country. Super weather, amazing women, 10am finishing time, really cant be beaten!

I was working in a small city in Sweden a good while back and one weekend there was a Rock Festival advertised. So I donned the AC/DC tshirt, had some
Black Sabbath blasting through the headphones ... got to the venue and it turned out to be an exhibition of actual rocks! :o

    ATP.

Really enjoyed it. I want to hit the New York one this year but don't think I'll be able to afford it.

    Melt in Berlin.

It's on a peninsula, which is an open air museum of industry! Seeing Bjork with gigantic cranes etc everywhere was pretty awesome. And it's less than 100euro for the three days! Oasis and Aphex Twin playing this year.. And you can stay in a hotel in a nearby town and get the free, frequent shuttle buses to the festival if you want!

    Great craic :)
