What spec are you looking for exactly?
    I would defo go with a 32" instead of a 24"

    Cheapest 32" are around €350

tbh im not really that up on this sort of thing, one with a good contrast ratio, good brightness, i would be happy enough with a 720p as iv seen 1080p and 720p games and you really wouldnt know the difference on a 32 " maybe on a 47" and bigger you would.so any thing along those specs id consider, sorry i cant be more help,im a dummy with this stuff.

I got my HD-TV in Powercity! Their very cheap, and good quality, in comparison to Argos or Currys, or any small TV Retail Outlet. www.powercity.ie Also the higher the ratio spec (eg. 15,000:1 ratio), the better the picture quality!

If 24" in size would suit you have you considered a 24" LCD monitor rather than a TV? Would be alot better picture quality and guaranteed 1080P.

    Hmm, this one?

    lol check this out...
As well as featuring the very latest advances in LCD technology [...]
Right, so the very latest advances like LED backlighting or 200Hz? Nah, didn't think so.
Amazed they can get away with saying that.

I'd hold on to my money, build it up a bit... wait till you get to 7, 8 or 9 hundred, then look again... skip all the thrown-together cheapo crap and first-gen clearance garbage.
It depends on whether muddy detail-less blacks and ghosting / motion blur would annoy you... they annoy the piss out of me.
I got a better picture from my 15-year-old 14" CRT tv than the 32" LCD I bought... honest to God I was disgusted with it.

Another option is to get an LCD monitor, which is what I'm using with my PS3 now.

id avoid the aldi tv because i got one before xmas and took it back because the picture quality was horrible on it for playing games imo.

Yep, don't just buy any old cheapo tv, I've been down that road and will never make that mistake again!
Just keep saving, you should be able to get a 1080p* 32" 5 series Samsung model for €500ish if you shop around...
Not that 1080p matters on a 32", but meh...

dunno if you can get a panasonic in that price range but have a look.

panasonic plasma are the best screens for the money you pay for them, hands down. if you want a better screen than a panasonic you're looking at pioneer etc which cost €€€'s

If you don't have a credit card, maybe check the likes of www.elara.ie as they accept bank transfers or cheque/postal order. Also can be collected instead of posted (I dunno if they have a physical shop).

dabs have a good selection of 24" monitors, you could use that list as a start and check for reviews. http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ is a decent site for reviews.

It's a little bit more complicated than that! that's only the contrast ratio....

Not many sites accept Laser. Komplett.ie accept laser, but only if you go to collect TV at their Collection Depot.

Pixmania.ie, I see, also now accept Laser, but their customer services are somewhat hit and miss.

Elara.ie also accept Laser, and have a few TVs.
