Dublin Bus route 65/65B's

I don't know how many of you on here are familiar with the 65/b route, the former of the two goes to Blessington and the latter goes up as far as Citywest.

The logic of the delegation here is beyond me. I've been living in Blessington 9 years now and year after year we seem to have a worse timetable. I know this is at a time when every route is affected but the logic here goes past me.

The only difference between the 65 and 65b's route before the N81 stretch to Blessington is the quick detour that the 65b takes around Killenarden. That part of Tallaght and the small part of Citywest serviced by the 65b already recieve service from the 50 bus route yet this bus is twice as frequent as the 65.

Problematic gaps in the timetable include:
    Weekdays - 9.55-12.00
    12.00-2.00
    3.00-5.30
    6.00-7.45
As well as this, the last bus leaves town at 22.50 and we have no Nitelink whatsoever.

I'm not trying to suggest that we leave those in West Tallaght short of a service but Blessington is a town growing rapidly with a population of over 7000 now and we are one of many under-serviced towns. Surely it would be more logical to have the 65b as the more infrequent of the two.

ah, what you fail to mention, is that the 65b and 50 turn off the blessington road, and go to citywest business park. It would nt be practical to turn back around and go to blessington from there.

the 65 bus when it comes ... is never full, but at peak times citywest is very busy. hence the need for more of a regular service with more seats, than blessington.

i use the 65/65b/50 route every day.

In addition i sure you will find the no. of people using public transport per capitia is lower than average, simply because blessington is outside the commuter belt, and most people moving there would consider a car necessary. Unlike those who live in the dense housing estates tallaght, where car ownership wouldnt be a necessity.

In addition the road from blessington to tallaght is a traffic trap especially in the mornings, it is one lane each was so no bus lances, and would prevent a decent bus service from operating, as no time table can be adhered to if the buses are stuck in traffic.

I would say you might be better of trying to agitate for a feeder bus to the square, which would mean allow bus services of twice the frequency, because the journey would take 1/2 the time.

Finally it is dublin bus, and blessington is in co. wicklow. The route is at the very edge of the radius you could expect them to cater for. to provide a more frequent service would mean many more drivers due to the long round trip. (it can take 2hrs when traffic is heavy, so as a round trip that 4 hrs, plus driver breaks ... so putting 1 more driver on that route wouldnt even make much of a difference to the regularity of the schedule.

it is dublin bus, and blessington is in co. wicklow. The route is at the very edge of the radius you could expect them to cater for. to provide a more frequent service would mean many more drivers due to the long round trip.

By that logic there shouldn't be a 10 minute frequency on route 145 to Kilmacanogue. There are many Dublin Bus routes which fall into other counties, some of which are very frequent.

    Routes 45, 45A, 65, 66, 66A, 66B, 66D, 66X, 67, 67A, 67X, 70, 70X, 70N, 84, 84X, 84N, 88N, 145, 184, 185 and 270 all cross into neighboring counties.

In-fact, route 65 is the only Dublin Bus route to travel though 3 different counties. Dublin, Wicklow and into Kildare.

It would be nice to see some of the gaps filled in on the timetable, but I can't see that happening any time soon.

The route is busy more often than not, weekends quiten down but that's the same on every route. The lack of Nitelink angers me so much
