    Hi

I am in Dublin over the weekend - staying around Doyle's Corner. Going for a run in and around the phoenix park. Hoping to do about 12 miles.
I don't know the area very well. I will entering the park the same end as you do in the Dublin marathon. Not sure where to go once I enter the park, or how many miles of road are in it?
Can you run on the edge of the road or should you run on the grass? Is there a path?

Any advice for a culchie coming to Dublin would be appreciated

    Thanks

    Hi Sumac,

Go to www.mapmyrun.com and search for runs in Dublin. A lot of people have saved runs around the park. It is a great place to run, and during the day it is very safe also.

I think Sean McFadden from www.irishfit.com still has a marathon group that meets in the park on a saturday morning if you want some company. Think it is around 10am at the end of the avenue nearest the city.

    Good luck,
    Domer

Course of Dublin half marathon here.
Course in entirely in Phoenix Park.

Coming in the N Circular road entrance of the park, if you just keep going straight on the road after 2.2miles you'll come to the a crossroads with the main straight road of the park (Chesterfield avenue I think). Just keep on going straight and follow the road around, will go down the hill towards Chapelizod gate, the one you go out in the marathon, swing a left here up the hill then a right about 100m up the hill to take you to the S bends, follow this road around and eventually you'll end up where you started.

It's just under 6 miles on the road, or 6.7miles if you do it on the grassy trail/path on the inside by the wall.
