Don't know why you'd want that one. It eats batteries and for what. It lights up.

Never knew it learned IR signals. But its only 3 commands, so hardly a big lose.

If yours backs in, you can have mine if I can find it. I use the hauppauge one now which has a few extra buttons for shortcuts within MCE, and is very light on juice.

only some M$ remotes can learn the volume and power buttons, the one on komplett was €38 to buy and i was going to buy one in december but i got the remote working again, pity now

as for battieres, i have rechargeables in mine ( i got about €80 worth of rechargeables off ebay in december, baby toys!!!) and its been nearly 3 months since i charged them

with the m$ remote i am able to control the tv (on off and volume), dvd player (vista pc), the recorder (vista pc) , divx/music/jpg player (vista pc) and freesat reciever (vista pc) with one remote with out ever having to look at the buttons, universal remote would never be this easy to use, with their sat-tv-vcr-dvd modes

Logitec harmony series. Anything that use IR it will work with it. From about €50

Link to Harmony site for reference/information. You can also often pick these up 2nd hand over on Adverts, and iBOOD sometimes do offers on them. Heres the first video review hit of one, I got from google.

You've probably already ordered the MCE remote from Amazon, not sure how much you paid, but the Harmony is really the business.

To be honest, I'd be lost without it now.

Theres a remote in Lidl at the mo which is 8 in 1 and has MC commands pre-programmed. Picked one up this morning for €8 in Lidl Malahide Rd and the MC buttons work well. I haven't tried it with the other pieces of equipment yet (I have 7 remotes at the telly to replace) but it has loads of codes preprogrammed and has a learning function including macros.

Worth a punt for €8. I was tempted to get a harmony off ebay till I saw that this does MC.

Ergonomics isn't great as its quite big and there are lots and lots of buttons. Has a toggle light up feature too which is nice.

Like all remotes though its just a case of getting used to it. I might pick up another if it works for all. :)

The Lidl remote now controls all 7 pieces of equipment. It had to learn 2 remotes which was dead simple. For €8 its a steal.

All MC buttons worked as far as I could tell. And it has a bypass feature which means vol can control the telly/audio for all devices without the need to switch from device to device.

You mean like an IR receiver built into a case rather than a USB one?

I don't have anything like that to test for you. But wouldn't that depend on MC allowing the IR receiver rather than wanting the blaster. Maybe I'm confused, can you explain what you mean again?

    Sort of a related question:

I have the Windows Media Center remote and the USB receiver thing but moving house I lost the IR blaster (think that's what it's called) that allows me to change the channels on my NTL box. I have to setup my system again in Media Center but can't do that without configuring a remote control to change channels on the NTL box.

Are those IR blaster things standard or do you need to get one specifically designed to work with the Windows Media Center remote? And if I can't get one somewhere can I just buy another remote control and USB receiver with an IR blaster or does it need to be the official one?
