    Hi.

I'm doing my first year of a two year journalism course. We have a music radio module I really enjoy it, it has made me realise that i would love to have a career in radio. I will be doing a self-op assignment where I have to produce and present my own radio show ( i'm VERY excited:D). would it be a smart move to send this out to radio stations? what else would I send with it?

Also could anyone please share any information they have about how to get into radio in Dublin, I really want to give it my best try!!

    thank you

I'll move this to the radio forum.

Speaking for my radio station we take in interns all the time at Near 90 fm.

Give us a call at 867 11 90 and I'm sure we can try and accommodate you.

I really think that if you want to get actually working in Radio you will need to be willing to work in any station...meaning stations that are outside dublin too...It's a small business so if you want to work in it you wont want to be known as the person who is too snobby to work anywhere else!

yeah i know I should maybe be willing to work for any station but its impossible for me i'm only 19, can't afford a car.

You'd just have to make the move wouldnt you. When i was 19 I was living up in Dublin and i'm from way south in the country...I paid rent, got a bus home if i chose to go home every week...

The old way of getting a foot in the door in radio was working with a pirate or community. Maybe thats an aveune you should explore. I know pirates arn't what they were in the 80's & 90's but there's still one or two good ones out there!.
