Hi guys, need some big help,
I dont study a maths course but have a statistical element of my FYP thats wrecking my head. I've looked up loads of different t-test ans using spss but cant get the right test so here it is..

basically, I tested random 2nd years and random 4th years of the same course with the same written exam in order to prove that placement practice that the 4th years have improves how good they are. Basically looking to show a significant difference between the 4th years and 2nd years. I can see from the results that there obviously will be but cant find the test and the terminology is confusing.

As said i've looked at loads of tests but get bogged down when I look further into them.

Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated??

Your looking at a 2-sample test. How many tests did you give out to each group?

There is nothing complicated about the test. This above link should help.

Scroll down to independent 2-sample t-test and pick one of the 3 following test dependent on if there are equal numbers in each group, and if the variance is different for each group or not. (The third one will do for the first two also, but w/e)

If you have any issues with the data just post a few more questions cos this test should only take two minutes to complete.
