just wondering if anyone can shine a light on this subject.

if you unknowly purchased a stolen car from the uk, can that car be taken off you and returned to its rightful owner. i know that if it was an irish car it can be but was wondering does this law apply to an english import in ireland

also does it matter if there was irish plates on it (vrt paid) before the car was reported stolen

nothing dodgy about this:) just trying to settle a dissicion over lunch in work

It's possible for people to trace their property into foreign jurisdictions. Title to property isn't extinguished once the property is moved outside the original jurisdiction into another.

I cant point you to any legislative reference without doing research but maybe someone else can.
