Big old luxury(-ish) cruisers from the 70s and 80s such as

    - Nissan/Datsun Laurel
    - Toyota Crown
    - Opel Senator
    - Ford Granada mk1 and mk2

I have a possibly unhealthy liking for such cars, but sadly you almost never see them on the road or anywhere anymore due to their thirst, high tax, size etc having made them financially unattractive when they started getting old.

The Mk1 and Mk2 Granada are the only two off that list that I would have any interest in.

Me too, but i'd have more of a leaning towards the French ones - R30TX, Peugeot 604V6. FIAT 130 too.

    I know.
Many years ago I had to swap a '64 Vanden Plas 4L R to banger racers to get my '80 Granada.

The Vanden Plas, MZH 22, was seemingly once owned by the Rolling Stones Roadie!

No way! When was this? And where did the 4l get raced?

I'm unsure as to whether the 4L R was ever actually raced.
It was either raced or scrapped.
The last I heard of it being around would have been '01?

It was also used in a little known Irish film called 'Country'.

I love all the cars mentioned in the original post. I crashed a laurel once.... very hard. I owned a Senator too. YUM!

All lovely cars but the Granada mk2 is the one I like the most. My first car was a 1979 2.3L. Happy days!
